Urban and suburban passenger land transport
The company is responsible for the operation of city and intercity public transport in Barcelona, Spain under the management of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). It was founded and incorporated in 1920. It has its registered office also located in Barcelona, Spain. The company's activity is the provision of passenger transport service such as buses and trains for those traveling around the city of Barcelona, as well as to various municipalities within its area of influence, through two transport networks: surface and underground. In doing this, it offers travel cards under the following types: integrated tariff system, single tickets, tourist and leisure tickets, and other transport travel cards. It has coach stations in Barcelona situated in Estació del Nord, Estació de Sants, Fabra i Puig, Ronda de la Universitat and in Pg. de Sant Joan - Diputacio. One of the company's objectives is to meet public transport needs for adequate economic compensation (through fares or subsidies) in areas where it is authorized to provide this service. The company provides service to an approximately 80 percent of the 3 million inhabitants of Barcelona and the metropolitan area. The network also covers the municipal areas of Badalona, Cornellà, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues, Sant Adrià de Besòs, and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Moreover, the bus routes provides service in the municipalities of Cornellà and Montcada, and intermunicipal services in Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern, Cornellà, Esplugues, L'Hospitalet de Lobregat, Montcada, and El Prat.
