The company is engaged in the promotion of economic growth of Barcelona and its influence area, fostering businesses, entrepreneurship and employment, while promoting the city internationally and its strategic sectors, while maintaining proximity to the districts and citizens. The company started its business operation in December of 1986 and conducts business from its registered corporate office which is strategically located in Barcelona, Spain. It is registered as a limited company. The company supported 4,293 companies through its Business Services and Programmes which will be integrated into the Business Support Office (OAE- Oficina d'Atenció a l'Empresa). It also accompanied 2.653 entrepreneur projects. Furthermore, 132 enterprises and 15 projects were installed in its business incubators. Concerning the Employment area, 19,332 people attend Barcelona Treball Services, 46 percent of whom found a job within six months. Its mission is to be the reference organization for policies supporting enterprises, employment creation and international projection of Barcelona, as an excellent environment for economic activity and social progress.
