The company, with registered office in Barcelona, Spain, is an industrial company that is principally engaged in producing and marketing basic products for the chemical, pharmaceutical, veterinary, agrochemical and animal food industries. It also has an interest in mining. Founded in 1989, it grew out of a merger between what were, at that time, the two largest private Spanish chemicals companies: Union Explosivos Rao Tinto, S.A. (ERT) and S.A. Cros. The company has more than 230 products in its product range, spreading across six product lines: Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Animal Food, Emulsions, Water Treatments and Plastics. Caustic soda, dicalcium phosphate and ethyl acetate are the products manufactured by Ercros that have the greatest influence on its business turnover, as they make up almost the 40 percent of it. Its corporate capital and its shares are quoted on the Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid and Valencia stock exchanges. The company has nine production facilities distributed across Spain and in Germany. With nearly half of its total production going abroad, the company is present in more than 90 countries, principally in the European Union, the United States and Asia. Its mission is to consolidate a sound and sustainable industrial project that contributes to the community's wealth and well-being.
