It is one of the leading groups in the Spanish food industry. The company produces, distributes and exports cocoa products. It was founded in 1940 by Josa Ignacio Ferrero Cabanach and Josa M. Ventura Mallofra in Barcelona's Gracia suburb with the following products: Bouillabaisse stock-cubes made from flour and fresh dried fish, Gloria Yeast, Gloria Creme Caramel, Cocoa Cream and Granja San Francisco Honey. The company was incorporated in 1953 with head office based in Barcelona, Spain. It sets itself to be the leader in branded products for packaged food, hot drinks, tea, ready meals, spreads and snacks aimed primarily at children and teenagers, while at the same time to providing nutrition and flavor. It produces candies and caramels, pastries of sponge cake covered with cacao, honey, milkshakes, confectioneries, sweetened cacao, cacao without sweetening, and infusions. The company distributes its products under the following brand names: ColaCao, Paladín, Nocilla, Granja, San Francisco, Okey, Phoskitos, Hit/La Cafetera, Mesura, La Piara and the international product Gao Le Gao which is marketed mainly in China. The most important part of its international business is concentrated on the Cola Cao brand (soluble, cereals and Chocolate Spread), Granja San Francisco Honey, Patas La Piara and the HIT sweets brand. The Cola Cao and Granja San Francisco Honey products are also distributed in Europe, Africa, Middle East and the United States of America. The company has the following production facilities: Parets Center in Barcelona for the production of soluble cocoa products, Girona Center for the production of large-scale cakes and pastries products, and the packaging of honey and spices, Palencia Center for the production of different varieties of milk shakes, and Pamplona Center for the production of confectionery products.
