Unilever Foods España SA is a business enterprise involved in the manufacture and marketing of a wide range of food products including soups, mayonnaise, flour, desserts and packet meals both to the trade and the private consumers. The company was incorporated in June 1998 and is based in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain. Unilever Foods España is recognized as one of the largest companies in Spain. The company sells a wide range of food products, which include: Cornetto, Magnum, Carte D'Or, Viennetta and Frigo ice cream products, as well as Knorr sauces, stock cubes, ready-meals, ready-soups and frozen food range. The Unilever factory in Leioa (Biscay) produces 55,000 tons of oil and refined fats used for the company's margarine. In addition, it produces 51,000 tons of margarine and 40,000 tons of catsup. The company's products are sold in Spain and in other European countries. The company is a subsidiary of Unilever, a widely listed multi-national group, formed of Anglo-Dutch parentage that owns many of the world's consumer product brands in foods, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. Based both in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, Unilever owns approximately 400 brands, many of them local that can only be found in certain countries. These brands fall into two general categories: food and beverages, and home and personal care.
