The company is primarily engaged in the development, manufacture and wholesale trade of medicine, homogenized food preparations, diet food and cosmetics products that restore, maintain or improve the health and well-being of the consumers. It was established in December of 2005. The company has a registered office located in Barcelona, Spain. The company is the Spanish subsidiary and part of the Consumer Health Division of Novartis AG, a Germany-based company engaged in the research, development, manufacture and marketing of medicines. In 2006, the Consumer Health Division (excluding discontinuing operations) was Novartis' second largest division, both in terms of Novartis' net sales and operating income. The company's OTC business unit covers over-the-counter self-medications. Its products include Venoruton®, Emportal®, Nicotinell®, Races®, Optalidon®, Otrivin®, a nasal decongestant; Revol®, Narhinel® and Rhinomer®. The Medical Nutrition business unit covers health and medical nutrition products. The medical nutrition products include Isosource®, a complete tube and sip feeds providinig normal nutritional requirements; Novasource®, a nutritionally complete enteral feeds for specific diseases or conditions; Impact®, a range of oral and enteral immuno-modulating products; Meritene®, a high-protein oral supplement; Optifast®, a clinical weight loss program and products; and Compat®, a range of standard and specialty devices to deliver tube feeds to gastrointestinal tract of patients.
