This ophthalmology clinic, also known as the Ocular Microsurgery Institute (IMO), is specialized in the treatment of ocular diseases as well as the protection and preservation of vision. It was set up in June of 2006 and is based in Spain. Its registered office is located in Barcelona. With a built area of approximately 20,000 square meters, the clinic has a high degree of knowledge, dedication and research work at its disposal, as well as the most innovative technology for the diagnosis and treatment of all pathologies that affect vision including astigmatism, blepharitis, cataracts, conjunctivitis, corneal opacity, corneal ulcer, dry eye, hyperopia, keratoconus, glaucoma, myopia, orbital tumors, periocular ageing, eyelid ptosis, eyelid drooping, amblyopia, strabismus, uveitis, and diabetic retinopathy. Its primary goal from the very beginning has been to offer top quality ophthalmic care and ensure the very best personal and professional care for its patients. Its specialties include laser eye surgery, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, radiotherapy, thermotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and vitrectomy. The clinic is noted for its research work, its participation in numerous international, multi-centre studies and its teaching, reflected in the continuous training of its medical and health staff, as well as the preparation of new sub-specializations through its teaching department, in conjunction with the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
