The company, also known as The Barraquer Eye Centre, is engaged in eye disease investigation, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. The company, founded in 1941 by Ignacio Barraquer Barraquer, has its registered office in Barcelona, Spain. It has a team of 30 ophthalmologists in different specialties, covering all of the ophthalmology fields. The company offers assistance to patients from all over the world, performing approximately 6,000 operations annually in its operating rooms. It also offers approximately 100,000 consultations and admits approximately 12,000 patients to the Emergency Department. In addition, the company has approximately 44 beds and 19 cubicles for ambulatory surgery patients. Each of the company's department has the latest high-tech equipment and the most advanced diagnosis systems, including five operation theatres and five laser units. All patients receive individual attention, and have an initial consultation, where the patient is informed of all the procedures and steps to take before his/her surgery. Patients also have the option to choose the surgeon that will operate on them, as well as the type of room for recovery. The company offers several types of eye surgery, including anterior segment pathologies (cornea, glaucoma, cataract), posterior segment pathologies (vitreous, retina, macula and optic nerve), binocular vision and strabismus, oculoplasty (blefaroplasty), Botox injections, lacrimal system and orbit, refractive surgery (LASIK, ICL, LIO, etc.), macular degeneration (Lucentis, Avastín, etc.), diabetic retinopathy, ocular oncology, clinical ophthalmology, and diagnostic imaging department (Goldman field, HRT II, OCT, Angiography, Ecography, Corneal Topography, etc.).
