The venture capital firm is engaged in investing in newly established companies that have high potential for growth and led by a committed and experienced teams. It was incorporated in March 2002 and has its head office located in Barcelona, Spain. The firm manages two venture funds (Caixa Capital Semilla SCR and Caixa Capital Pyme Innovación SCR) that invest in seed and growing phases of innovative companies in Spain. It focuses on financing technology-based companies in life sciences, and ICT (information and communication technology) sectors. The firm aims to help startups by offering capital, and providing links to other potential companies looking for synergies as well as defining their strategy. The firm is the venture capital division of la Caixa,the leading savings bank in Europe and the third largest financial group in Spain. Its investment portfolio consists of the following companies: La Seda de Barcelona, Aqsense, B Kin Software, Das Photonics, Eolab, and Privalia Venta Directa S.L.
